Your Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) is the person ultimately responsible for all image quality issues, patient safety, quality assurance and system policies. The RSO is the person who has to answer to the facility owners AND any inspectors. It is the responsibility of the RSO to assure all staff know and follow all system policies. They also must assure that all system polices adhere and meet all state and federal regulations.
Are You Ready to be an RSO?
This is a large obligation for one person, especially for anyone who is not thoroughly knowledgeable and experienced with all necessary regulations, laws, radiation safety procedures, QC tests and image quality needs.
RPC can act as the RSO on behalf of your facility. Our extensive experience with radiation safety, QA procedures and thorough knowledge of state/federal regulations allows RPC to more than exceed your needs to assure an exceptional radiology system.
What Will We Do?
We would schedule regular Radiation Safety Committee meetings with your staff to review progress and answer any questions. The RSO would also review all necessary QA logs and tests (such as Reject/Retake Analysis, CT Daily QC and Quarterly Dose Badge Records). Any of our staff would be available for questions by phone and email at any time.
We also Include the RSO Audit
The most confusing and complicated responsibility of the RSO is to perform an Annual RSO Audit (a review of the facility’s QA Program as required by most state regulations). This is a very thorough analysis of your radiology QA Manual, QC test documentation and review of all Policies and Procedures. As your RSO, our staff will perform the Annual RSO Audit (see the RSO Audit section for more detail). Working with your staff, we will help assure you meet and exceed state and federal regulations.
